My name is Delicia Myrick, but I prefer to be called Dee. I grew up in Decatur, Georgia, alongside my five siblings and our mother, who raised us as a single parent. Observing her navigate life’s challenges with remarkable grace inspired me to dream big and strive for success.

My entry into the healthcare field started with working for mother alongside this small business by the name of New Beginnings, where I was responsible for overseeing behaviors, daily activities and medication. After three years, I transitioned to Job Corps to pursue a career in security, initially aiming to become a bounty hunter. However, I eventually shifted my focus to becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), a decision that has proven to be one of the best choices I’ve made for myself.

I find great joy in my interactions with seniors, and I don’t view my work as just a job; to me, a job implies a mere paycheck. Instead, I am passionate about what I do and take pleasure in bringing smiles to people faces, even during difficult times.

Over the years, I have held various roles, including Activity Assistant, Lead CNA, Lead Chef, Lead Server, and Dining Service Director (DSD). I’ve also taken up a few side courses such as bartending and massage therapy. I’m all about improving and developing new trades and skill.

Although I didn’t come from the large family I had always envisioned, I find a sense of belonging in senior communities. To the residents, I am just another grandchild, and they are like grandparents to me. What could be more fulfilling than being someone’s granddaughter?

I want to express that Serenity Empire feels like home to me in ways that others may not fully understand. Coming from a broken home, discovering this gem has been profoundly meaningful. The love and passion within this company for the residents are truly moving, often bringing tears to my eyes. Serenity Empire has provided me the opportunity to be part of a beautiful movement, and for that, I will always be grateful and appreciative.
